Although it seems, at least according to this blog, that we have fallen off of the Earth, I assure you we are still here. We have been writing, recording, writing and recording and playing a bit live here and there. We are finally getting back into the swing of things after job issues, illnesses and other daily distractions but we have kept writing through each little bump and we are slowly making progress on the CD. Right now we are focusing on our brand new music site where you can hear tunes, read about upcoming shows and hopefully in the near future, be able to buy merch from us! New Songs
We keep promising to stop with the songwriting, or at least slow it down a bit so we can focus on the album, but darn it, we have fell in love with the two latest and they have been recorded! We have also changed up the beat on an oldie and it sounds like it should have had that beat all along! We are working on a mini documentery of one of the new songs where we have been recording clips of our time in the studio and we look forward to getting it out there. Other than writing song and recording we have had very little time for gigs this Summer but as Fall is quickly approaching, we have added two shows this month which you can find by clicking on our Upcoming shows link at the top of this page. We are also going to be playing a live acoustic version od Bad Bones on Bakersfield's local radio show Bakotopia on KRAB 106.1 tonight somewhere between the 9 and 10 o'clock hour. It will also be available on the station's website if you are interested. I'm working on getting some photos up soon too!

Update (sorry for the delay)...
We have been busy writing tunes. We thought we were done writing and then new ideas turned into new songs that we had to record! We go back into the studio soon after a long hiatus thanks to illness and jobs, wisdom tooth extraction...etc. We are so excited to get back in there and lay down the new tunes! We have also been gig-less as of late. Life has just been too busy and we have focused so much on these new songs that you will definitely hear them at our next live performance. Hopefully I will have a date for that soon. In the meantime we will try to work on the final game plan for the CD's release. We may even have a tentative date for that as well...

Album news,ideas, etc...
Greetings!
We had our first official gig as The Bird Channel on Saturday night. We were up against Memorial day weekend meaning the crowd was light but we sold some CD's and had a great time. Since Summer is just about here we should be heading into the studio soon to put down some more vocals, instruments and rerecord a song. We changed up the beat on one of our older tunes and we agree it should be fixed on the recording. I (Melissa) have been making artsy flyers and banners for use on the internet and also to try to find our "style" for possible t-shirt ideas. Our goal this Summer is to play as many shows as possible and gain new fans along the way! Stay tuned for more shows coming your way!

New things, good things.
Greetings from The Bird Channel!
For those of you still not sure about our name change, let us assure you it is for the best. Of course there will still be the age old questions... Why? What does the name mean? And our best answer (until and if we find a better one) is that we feel like the old name held us back in some ways. We also felt that maybe it was time to start fresh. Our songwriting is evolving and maybe a name change would do us good as well. So as far as meanings?
Birds.
The metaphors.
Taking flight.
Heading a different direction.
It's all there. We have great ideas as far as logos and art. So far most everyone is taking the name change well but a few of you clearly need convincing. All we can do is knock off your socks when we release the CD. Then you won't care what we call ourselves!
